About Hope Channel Ethiopia

Our Historical Journey

2016 - Initial Broadcasts

Hope Channel Ethiopia began in 2016 with weekly 30-minute broadcasts in Amharic language on a private television station. This initiative was driven by the passion and support of church members from the Addis Ababa Gospel Outreach Coordinating Committee. The programs primarily featured sermons and Bible discussions.

2017 - Expansion of Service

In 2017, the television service gained attention from the church union. Two program producers and two camera operators were hired, establishing a dedicated team. For three years, Hope Channel continued broadcasting on Elshadai Television, expanding to offer one-hour programs in both Amharic and Oromiffa languages.

2020 - 24/7 Broadcasting Launch

Recognizing the impact and value of the programs, in January 2020, Hope Channel Ethiopia inaugurated its own studio within the Kebena Seventh-day Adventist Church compound. With four cameras and additional staff, it began broadcasting 24/7 on its own frequency. The channel expanded to three languages - Amharic, Oromiffa, and Tigrigna - reaching Ethiopia's population of 120 million and neighboring Eritrea.
